Here is a video from Propaganda about the gospel
It’s ok to have fun
Here is a fun video from a youth group. Do you guys have any to share? This is a reminder that not everything we do has to be serious. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up with the ministry workload and forget that we can have fun once in a while.
The Importance of Reading
Here is a good video on the importance of reading. As a pastor I desire to grow and learn and know that it takes time. I hope all of you are spending some time reading and growing closer to the Lord.
Enough Said
As I am sure some of you have already seen this video, when I viewed it there were a couple of things that this young boy said that jumped at me and said this is the culture, the youth, that we live with.
“I do bad things because they are fun,” said the young boy as he stole his grandmothers SUV and ended up not only hitting 2 parked cars as well as 2 moving cars and eventually crashing the SUV to a stop. As I am in my mid 20′s, I know that the youth culture has shifted and there are certain things that are more common today for young people to do compared to when I was that age, but where is the fear. I mean, as I have walked on some public middle school campuses this year, I am shocked at the vulgarity, sexuality, and defiance that 7th grader may have. But just like this young boy said, “I do bad things because they are fun.” Yes, I know sin can seem fun for a time, but the result of sin is more devastating and the consequences great. My heart breaks as this is the mentality of the youth that we reach.
As a youth pastor it is easy for me to get caught up in my church life bubble. I work at a church, I am around other people that work at a church and that can take me away from the reality of what is going on in the world. I realize that I need to see these news reports as well as talk to the students that have struggles, that go through life with this mentality.
What are some of your goals, struggles, and how do you reach young people for them to realize the serious of sin as well as the great grace of God?
